About United Way South Australia

United Way in South Australia had its origins as the Elizabeth and District Foundation starting in 1973. United Way South Australia is now the largest non-government fund raising and fund giving organisation operating in South Australia.

The philosophy of United Way is an international concept, with over 4,000 United Ways operating throughout the world, all with the same mission – to increase the organised capacity for people within a community to care for one another.

United Way is unique given the fact that 100% of individual donations reach the community. United Way South Australia is able to achieve this through operating several bingo booths throughout the northern region. This allows community organisations maximum access to all other money raised.

Many volunteers and many hundreds of community organisations assist United Way in operating community bingo booths. United Way donates funds to charities, community sporting, welfare and environmental and community groups on a daily basis through this mechanism.
