Donation through Payroll Contribution

Payroll deduction to United Way SA is philanthropy in its purest form. Every dollar given is a dollar of difference for the community and for those in need. United Way South Australia guarantees that 100% of payroll contributions go to the community.

United Ways worldwide are leaders in utilising Payroll Deduction for raising funds for charitable purposes.

Over 2,000 United Ways across America raise US $3.5 billion per annum with an average 75% of funds from Payroll Deduction.

United Way is present in 44 countries, raising funds through payroll donations to meet their local community needs.

WHY SHOULD I BECOME A PAYROLL DONOR?

The problem of conventional fundraising methods

The hidden cost of fundraising is unknown to most people –associated expenses could consume as much as 85% or more of the income generated from fund raising campaigns.

The power of payroll donation – The power of CREEEP

Convenient, Regular, Easy, Effective, Efficient and Painless.

  • Only one authorisation is needed for many years of voluntary contribution
  • It is equally easy to stop any further payroll donations – just file a form to stop
  • Donors can designate their donation to specific charities and decide the % of their donation that goes to each of their chosen charities
  • Donors may designate their donation through United Way South Australia for specific program areas, eg. aged care, health, welfare, youth services, etc.

  • Funds raised through payroll deduction are directed to charities by United Way South Australia on a needs basis, with United Way having the benefit of local knowledge.
  • Payroll contribution is fee free and pre tax.

Pre Tax benefit

All donations above $2 are tax deductible and pre tax. That is, you only pay tax on what you earn after your donation is taken out of you gross pay. The total contribution from the employee concerned is printed on the group certificate at the end of each financial year. An official record from United Way SA denoting the total contributions for the financial year is forwarded to all payroll donors for record keeping purposes.

What is there to lose?

Nothing! Payroll deduction is simple and painless. Try it yourself.
