McKolosky Chiropractic Wins United Way’s First Annual Golden Stork Award During Diaper Need Awareness Week
Community partnership with CamTran diaper drive helps provide essential supplies to local families
JOHNSTOWN, PA — In recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week last week, United Way of the Southern Alleghenies (UWSA) is proud to announce McKolosky Chiropractic as the recipient of its first annual Golden Stork Award, honoring the business that collected the most diapers per employee during a community diaper drive conducted in partnership with CamTran.
The award celebrates McKolosky Chiropractic’s outstanding generosity and commitment to supporting local families with young children. Through the diaper drive, employees and community members came together to help address diaper need across the Southern Alleghenies, ensuring that more families have access to this essential resource.
“Diapers are a basic necessity, yet far too many families face difficult choices between purchasing diapers and paying for other household essentials,” said Karen Struble, President and CEO of United Way of the Southern Alleghenies. “McKolosky Chiropractic demonstrated what it means to care for our neighbors. Their participation in our first annual Golden Stork Award diaper drive is a wonderful example of how local businesses can make a meaningful difference in the lives of families in our community.”
Diaper Need Awareness Week highlights the challenges faced by families who struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their babies and toddlers clean, dry, and healthy. Unlike many other essential household items, diapers cannot typically be purchased with SNAP benefits, leaving families to rely on limited household resources, community donations, and diaper assistance programs.
United Way of the Southern Alleghenies operates a community diaper bank that provides mre than 15,000 diapers a month to families throughout the region. Through partnerships with local organizations and community distribution sites, UWSA works to ensure families have access to essential supplies while connecting them with additional resources and support.
The diaper drive, held in conjunction with CamTran, reflects the power of community partnerships in addressing basic needs. By engaging local businesses and employees, the initiative helps raise awareness of diaper need while expanding access to diapers for families who need them most.
